Headleys Deluxe offers an exciting opportunity for British breeders looking for quality Thoroughbred bloodlines. Having completed his first season eventing under Italy’s Giovanni Ugolotti, Headleys Deluxe has shown a convincing start to his career. Licensing with the AES in Spring 2019 before qualifying for the Burghley Young Event Horse Finals on his first ever outing, finishing 2nd at Rockingham International Horse Trials BYEH qualifier. Judges awarded a 10 for conformation and 8 of 8 for quality. 7th place at Gatcombe BYEH and performing at the Burghley Young Event Horse 4 year old finals ended Headleys Deluxe’s first season under saddle on a hugely promising note. 2020 saw Headleys Deluxe enter his first BE100’s, with double clear finishes in two of his three events, jumping clear cross country every time.
Headleys Deluxe is a tall, modern Holstein stallion with three uphill paces and a superb kind and trainable temperament. He carries over 70% Thoroughbred blood, a great length of stride in the walk, a supple trot and a round and powerful uphill canter. An effortless, ground covering gallop compliments a quick, careful jump action with excellent bascule over fences. Headleys Deluxe offers a new combination of the best European Thoroughbred and Warmblood bloodlines to British breeders, with his beautiful head, well-set neck on a sloping shoulder, powerful hindquarters and good feet. Offering quality thoroughbred blood without compromising on frame, paces, or temperament, makes him an ideal choice for the professional and amateur event rider.
Sire, prolific black type German Thoroughbred stallion Duke of Hearts is licensed with the four main warmblood studbooks- Hanover, Holstein, Oldenburg and Trakehner. Duke of Hearts won on the racetrack at distances over a mile, demonstrating not only his speed but also the stamina that is so crucially important in the professional event horse. Duke of Hearts has 3 licensed sons and several successful event horses competing internationally. Son Duke of Champion competes successfully at CCI4*L, finishing 5th in the Blenheim 8/9 year old CCI4*S 2019, with Daytona Beach at CCI4*L; Baroness 374 is competing at CCI4*S and 1.30m; Duke’s Delight CCI4*S, and Duchesse of Hearts W show jumping internationally at 1.35m amongst many others. Duke of Hearts passes on his modern frame, elegant paces and athleticism coupled with a trainable attitude and bravery cross country.
Sire Halling, owned by the Darley Stud, is one of the most prestigious international blood sires, with five Group 1 wins to his name. As a sire Halling sired two other licensed sons, Fisich XX and Dandoun XX as well as CCI3* event horse Knockavardagh Boy.
Duke of Hearts’ Damsire Königsstuhl was a phenomenally successful racehorse, and remains the only horse to win the prestigious German Triple Crown, winning all three races in 1979: The German 2000 Guineas; the Deutsches Derby and the Deutsches St. Leger. This achievement led to Königsstuhl being crowned German Horse of the Year, followed by German Champion Sire 1988 and 1994.
