Description

Proven international eventing stallion, Headleys Deluxe, offers an exciting opportunity for British breeders.  Currently competing at CCI-L 3* level, Headleys Deluxe has shown a convincing start to his career under the guidance of Italy's Giovanni Ugolotti.  He has had wins at Novice and Intermediate level, completed numerous CCI2*'s, including the Osberton National 6 year old Young Horse Championships 2021. The season ended on a high at the  FEI 6 Year old Eventing World Breeding Championship for Young Horses at Le Lion D'angers, to finish 16th.  This season Headleys Deluxe has been awarded Approved licensing status with the Anglo European Studbook, based on his results in the sport. 2022 saw Headleys Deluxe step up to CCI3* level with a 3rd place finish on his dressage score, on his first attempt at the level.  This led to Headleys Deluxe qualifying and selected to represent Italy at the FEI 7 year old Eventing World Championships at Le Lion D'Angers, for the second consecutive year.  Headleys Deluxe didn’t disappoint with another phenomenal double clear finish on his dressage score at the Le Lion 7 year old Young Horse Eventing World Championships. This is an incredible achievement for any horse, but is a testament to Headleys Deluxe's incredibly kind and trainable temperament and talent, to be able to combine his training and competing, alongside his stud duties.  This season Headleys Deluxe has proven exceptionally fertile, and is now attracting attention from mare owners around the world, particularly in the USA and Europe. He graded and licensed with the AES in Spring 2019 as a newly backed 4 year old. On his first outing away from home he qualified for the Burghley Young Event Horse Finals.  Judges awarded a 10 for Conformation and 8 of 8 for Quality. Headleys Deluxe loves his job as an event horse and is one of very few stallions performing reliably in the sport. He offers consistency and a level head, thriving with the demand of progressive challenges, which is reflected in his record.  Headleys Deluxe is efficient and straight on the cross country course, easily making the time with his light, economical, ground covering gallop.  He is a careful and quick thinking jumper with clever footwork and a neat technique over a fence. On the flat his paces and trainability allow for continuous improvement in scores rewarded, with dressage scores as low as 21 in the first phase.  In 2024 Headleys Deluxe is looking to step up to Advanced and CCI 4* level as an 9 year old. Headleys Deluxe is a tall, modern Holstein stallion with three uphill paces and a superb kind nature. He carries over 70% Thoroughbred blood, a great length of stride in the walk, a supple trot and a round and powerful uphill canter.  Headleys Deluxe offers a new combination of the best European Thoroughbred and Warmblood bloodlines to sport horse breeders, with his beautiful head, well-set neck on a sloping shoulder, powerful hindquarters and good feet. Offering quality thoroughbred blood without compromising on frame, paces, or temperament, makes him an ideal choice for the professional and amateur event rider. His first offspring have inherited his strong frame and length of leg, with a kind and inquisitive nature.  He particularly refines the mare and strengthens the canter and gallop.  With his high percentage of Thoroughbred blood he is an ideal choice for warmblood type mares that need refining and increasing stamina. Headleys Deluxe's sire is the prolific black type, German Thoroughbred stallion, Duke of Hearts. He is licensed with Hanover, Holstein, Oldenburg and Trakehner.  A fantastic achievement for any stallion, particularly a Thoroughbred!  Duke of Hearts won on the racetrack at distances over a mile, demonstrating not only his speed but also the stamina that is so crucially important in the modern event horse. Duke of Hearts has produced licensed stallions and many successful event horses and show jumpers competing internationally.  His progeny include Laura Collett's 2021 7 year old World Championship silver medalist and 2022 Millstreet 3*L winner, Outback II; Duke of Champions, selected for the 2022 World Equestrian Games in Pratoni with Giovanni Ugolotti; Burghley Horse Trials debutant Daytona Beach who jumped double clear to finish 10th and Nicola Wilson’s BYEH 5 year old champion Jack of Clubs out of CCI5* mare Annie Clover.  Duke of Hearts has shown that he produces progeny that are successful at every level of the sport. Duke of Hearts’ Damsire Königsstuhl was a phenomenally successful racehorse, and remains the only horse to win the prestigious German Triple Crown. This achievement led to Königsstuhl being crowned German Horse of the Year, followed by German Champion Sire. Headleys Deluxe’s damline hails the most respected jumping bloodlines in recent years including Caretino, Acord II, Ahorn Z, Calypso I, Cor de la Bryrère, Ladykiller xx, and Landgraf, amongst many others.  Dam Colourful Lady has competed at CSI5* Grand Prix level show jumping under Ireland’s Capt. Brian Cournane. Headleys Deluxe remains her only offspring.  The damline has produced multiple international showjumpers, state premium mares and licensed stallions. Damsire Casall needs no introduction, having competed soundly for 13 seasons injury free.  Casall finished in 4th at 2014 World Equestrian Games; 4th and team bronze medal at the 2013 Europeans and completed the London 2012 Olympics.  The Global Champions Tour proved a happy hunting ground year on year competing in 39 Grand Prix’s, winning 9 and being crowned 2016 Longines Global Champions Tour Champion, beating the world’s best combinations.  As a sire he has proven equally as impressive, siring 153 licensed sons and 53 state premium mares. Casall comes from the Stamm 890 damline, one of Holstein’s most successful performance mare families. If you are looking for a proven sport horse stallion, performing consistently in the sport, you will be hard pressed to find a stallion available to breeders with a better record than Headleys Deluxe.  For a an 8 year old stallion, Headleys Deluxe has delivered at every level of young horse championship, an exciting indicator for his future in the sport.  His pedigree combined with his promising competition record have shown that he is an outstanding addition to British breeding, offering the best of modern bloodlines to sport horse breeders worldwide.
