Britannia Royal, by the Oldenburg stallion Royaldik, is a son of the legendary elite 5* mare Headley Britannia (Brit), winner of Badminton, Burghley, Kentucky and a team Olympic silver medal. This talented young stallion has superb world-class bloodlines for eventing on both sides of his pedigree: in addition to the bloodlines from his dam Brit (by the renowned stallion Jumbo, sire of Mr Chunky, bronze medal winner at the World Equestrian Games), his sire Royaldik is a son of the TB mare Herka, full sister to Heraldik xx, the WBFSH No.1 Eventing Sire for a decade, and damsire of Michael Jung’s wonderful La Biosthetique-Sam. Heraldik is still very influential today.
Britannia Royal is an elegant, eye-catching, modern blood-type stallion, 70% TB. He is a short-coupled stallion with correct conformation, good feet, rhythmical paces and a quick, bold but careful and athletic jump. His natural speed cross country has enabled him to regularly and comfortably complete within the time allowed as he has progressed up the eventing levels, and he is now well established at Intermediate level. Apart from his good looks, he is a charming horse with a lovely calm, trainable temperament and is a pleasure to handle at home, at stud and at competitions, which comfortably enables him combine competing and stud duties.
In 2020, despite the shortened event season, he produced five double-clears achieving five top-ten placings from just six runs.
In 2021 he continued to prove what a consistent performer he is, running mainly at 2*/Intermediate level and gaining six top-ten placings from eight runs, with four of these in his five Intermediate runs. His show jumping has been super careful, and his cross-country rounds have been nothing short of scintillating. He is now qualified to run at Advanced in 2022, very exciting.
Britannia Royal’s progeny are already starting to show their quality. His first two offspring, born in 2017, made a terrific start to their showing careers in-hand, both proving winners at County level in Hunter Breeding and Hack/Riding Horse classes; and his son Classictop Britannic went on to stand Champion Hunter Breeding at the 2019 Kent County Show.
His first full crop of foals reach 4 years old in 2022 and will be beginning their ridden careers.
Britannia Royal is also getting excellent results from his foals presented for evaluation at the Futurity series. His first foal of 2018, Cornsay Heraldry, from a Chilli Morning mare, was one of only two youngsters, across all the age groups, to be awarded a Higher First Premium at the Richmond Futurity; a 2019 foal, Vivat Rex, was also awarded Gold at the Catherston Stud Futurity.
In 2022 Britannia Royal has frozen semen available in the EU, USA, Australia and New Zealand.
