Velvet Glove was intentionally bred as a Sports Horse Stallion based a mix of Olympic Show Jumping, Olympic Eventing and an exceptional conformation which is almost impossible to find in full Thoroughbred or nearly Thoroughbred sires. He has a fabulous uphill front which is so rare for a full Thoroughbred, an equally impressive strong second thigh and beautiful elevated movement in front.
Hand In Glove Show Jumped himself to 1.60m and did pure dressage to Grand Prix but his greatest claim to fame is perhaps being the sire of the stallion Jaguar Mail. Jaguar Mail has previously held the title of Leading Sire of Eventers in the World and show jumped himself at the Hong Kong Olympics. Jaguar Mail is the sire of Andrew Hoy's dual Tokyo Olympic Medallist Vassily De Lassos and Austin O'Connor's 2023 Maryland CCI5* Winner Colorado Blue.
Primitive Rising appears in Hand In Glove's pedigree via his dam Templar Romance through her sire Templar Spirit. Primitive is the sire of CCI5* Winners and Championship horses. His son Cool Mountain won Kentucky CCI5* with William Fox-Pitt and his daughter Kings Mistress won Kentucky CCI5* with Mary King. Cool Mountain is also a World Equestrian Games Gold Medallist. Still today Primitive Rising holds the title as the best ever sire of Burghley Young Event Horse Final winners having sired 5 overall final winners in a 30 year period.
Velvet Glove's dam Templar Romance is a Sport Horse Breeding of Great Britain Head Stud Book mare who scored 9's and 10's at her grading under former Burghley winner Judy Bradwell and her final score in 2023 made her the 3rd highest graded mare in Great Britain less than 1 mark behind William Fox-Pitt's 2023 Kentucky Runner Up Grafennacht.
Templar Romance was herself a highly successful Show Horse and she went Champion as a Hack and a Riding Horse in the Show Ring. She has already produced Geminis Connection for CCI5* rider Andrew Downes, Geminis Miners Glove who was sold to a prestigious event horse owner in the USA and Churchill's Rose who was the leading graded foal in Great Britain under the Sport Horse Breeding of Great Britain Foal Gradings.
