Brando SD is a beautiful homozygous black sport pony stallion. He has an excellent conformation for sport, exhibiting athleticism & power throughout his superb paces & jump. He also has an exceptional temperament with super rideability.
Brando’s pedigree consolidates many great proven German Riding Pony performance lines. He is one of very few stallion sons of world renowned Hilkens Black Delight, this is combined with a dam line full of legendary names including Downland Folklore, Brillant and Night-Star I.
Sire: Hilkens Black Delight was 2005 Weser-Ems Stallion Licensing Champion, receiving high praise from the licensing committee - described as being “as close to perfection as possible”. He became the first pony stallion ever to be invited to the Oldenburg Stallion Parade. He was 4yo State Champion and winner of his Performance Test, scoring 10 from the guest rider and praised for his jumping, both X-country and over show jumps. In 2009, Black Delight became Weser-Ems 6-9 year old Stallion Champion and qualified for the Bundeschampionate before being sold to France. His sire Branduardi M was successful at L-level in dressage & showjumping and his dam, Syrah also competed in dressage and L-level jumping.
Dam: Mirage is also dam of 2015 SPSS Supreme Mare Grading Champion, Mystique (by Argentino) & full brother Adonis, a licensed stallion who was exported from Germany to USA. Mirage is also dam of the colt foal crowned SPSS 2018 Supreme Youngstock Champion. Mirage’s dam, Moonlight is a daughter of the influential Night-Star I who was Reserve Bundeschampion (Jumping) and sire of Eventing Pony Euros Team & Individual Gold medal winner, Nelusko.
Damsire: Voyage, a proven sire of dressage ponies, is a son of Valentino, who was highly influential in Dutch & German sport pony breeding and was awarded the Sport predicate.
Brando’s pedigree, type & temperament mean that he is extremely versatile as a stallion choice. He would make a really excellent cross with pure or part-bred native pony mares, Arabs & British Riding Ponies, as well as having lots to offer German Riding Pony mares and even Warmblood/horse mares where he could be used to add quality & reduce height.
Delaroche Stud has been extremely fortunate to acquire Brando SD in Autumn 2021 & look forward to 2022 with great excitement. We intend to rekindle his ridden career whilst also making him more widely available at stud via AI, it is anticipated that he will be used on a wide range of the stud's own & customers mares.
